Automated Transportation of Lots Between Drop Points & Test Stations in German Backend Manufacturing Plant

Two units of SESTO S300 AMRs designed to automate transportation of lots placed on trolleys between drop points and test stations (S300 is the predecessor to SESTO Magnus). Previously, human operators had to cover long distances and push trolleys loaded with lots that are heavy. SESTO’s advanced AMRs have allowed operators to be freed up to focus on higher value-added tasks.

Challenges:

  • Manpower crunch from shrinking workforce
  • Long distance floor traversing
  • Multiple drop points and test stations in production plant
  • Trolleys loaded with lots that are heavy

Solution:

Two units of SESTO S300 AMRs designed for autonomous transportation of lots placed on trolleys between drop points and test stations. The AMR backend system is integrated to the production scheduler and dispatcher to trigger pick up and drop off tasks.

Outcome:

With the implementation of these autonomous mobile robots from SESTO Robotics, these outcomes are achieved:  the solution became part of the company’s advanced manufacturing initiatives to become one of the few reference sites acknowledged by World Economic Forum’s Global Lighthouse Network. The deployment of SESTO AMRs addressed manpower challenges and operators were freed up to focus on value-added tasks.
