Factory Floor with Two Workers

Automated the Delivery and Transfer of Moulded Plastic Parts in a Clean Room Facility

Two units of SESTO Magnus AMRs equipped with customised payload handler to securely transfer multiple trays of work-in-progress plastic moulded parts for the medical device and consumable industry have improved workflows and ensured timely delivery of payloads.

Challenges:

  • Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) need to be easy to operate at the plastic injection moulding facility

  • AMR to collect location, tasks and delivery data for monitoring purposes

  • AMR required to transfer and hand-off trays of moulded parts to production tools

Solution:

Two units of SESTO Magnus AMRs equipped with customised payload handler to securely transfer multiple trays of work-in-progress plastic moulded parts for the medical consumable industry were developed. When a material transfer request is created, the SESTO Fleet Management system dispatches an available robot to pick up racks of moulded trays. SESTO Magnus arrives at the station, does a ‘handshake’ with the tool before proceeding to transfer the payload.

Outcome:

With the implementation of these autonomous mobile robots from SESTO Robotics, these outcomes are achieved: improved material handling and transfer workflow and timely delivery of payloads. Data of task completion and delivery status is easily monitored by production team, allowing them time to focus more on value-added tasks.
