Automated Transportation of Tote Boxes to Various Parts of a Large Semiconductor Manufacturing Plant in China

Ten units of SESTO Element AMRs equipped with shelves automated the transportation of heavy tote boxes over long distances of up to 40km per day, increasing productivity, safety and traceability within a large semiconductor plant located in China. Previously, human operators had to manually carry tote boxes, causing fatigue and workplace injuries. SESTO’s robust AMRs have allowed operators to be freed up to focus on higher value-added tasks.

Challenges:

  • Deliveries cover long distances of up 40km per day

  • Heavy tote boxes carried by human operators

  • Fatigue and workplace injuries experienced by the operators

  • Increase semiconductor manufacturing plant productivity in the competitive industry

Solution:

10 units of SESTO Element AMRs equipped with shelves automated the transportation and delivery of heavy tote boxes, covering 40km per AMR each day. The AMRs has the ability to automatically transport multiple heavy tote boxes to various drop off points in the manufacturing plant. The solution has been operational since 2017 and is going strong.

Outcome:

With the implementation of these autonomous mobile robots from SESTO Robotics, these outcomes are achieved: reduced fatigue and increased safety of operators, addressed delivery requirements and delivered reliability of outcomes.
